Culture minister Olivia Grange grieves death of revival gospel singer Kukudoo

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Minister of Culture Olivia Grange says news that gospel entertainer Kukudoo has died has saddened her deeply. McDermott, who performed in the revival style under the name Kukudoo, died on Friday.
Grange described him as “a cultural force whose work celebrated African derived spiritual traditions within Jamaican society”.
The culture minister observed, “Kukudoo was a strong performer who resonated across generations and social backgrounds.”
Grange said his passing was “a great loss and he would be sorely missed”.
