Dancehall entertainer Squash, born Andrae Whittaker, is edging nearer to leaving federal custody in the United States.
Records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons now list the Jamaican deejay for release from the Federal Detention Center in Miami on December 26, 2026. His earlier projected release date had been January 25, 2027, meaning the timeline has been shortened by about a month.
The new date is tied to federal time credits, which can be applied for eligible prisoners based on good conduct and participation in approved prison programmes.
The update has brought fresh attention from supporters of the “Big Breeze” artiste, though his stay in the US after release may not last long. Squash is expected to go through deportation proceedings, which would likely send him back to Jamaica.
Word of the revised release date moved quickly online, prompting a mix of jokes, questions and celebration from dancehall fans. One commenter wrote, “Deportation?” while others leaned into the good news. “Breeze out early!” one supporter posted. Another said, “Top shottas is back,” and a third added: “6 forever and ever, dawgs up.”
The reaction underlines the fan base Squash has kept while behind bars. Before his legal problems, the Montego Bay-born performer became a major name in dancehall, pulling in millions of streams with tracks such as “Big Breeze,” “Know Bout That,” and “Rate Who Rate You.”
Although much of his music carries a tough street persona, Squash has previously argued that the image does not fully describe who he is. In a 2022 interview, he said pressure, corruption around him and disappointment with the system helped push him to leave Jamaica.
“You see me now, me is not a violent man,” he said then. “People out there might see 6ixx Boss and have me as violent, but I am a jovial person. Me loving and kind, fun, mi like happiness, me nuh like sadness.”
Squash has more than 260,000 followers on Spotify and had built up a sizeable body of work before his imprisonment. His releases include F.A.M.E. (Faith Always Move Everything) and Hate Being Famous.
With the date now brought forward, attention is already turning to what could come next for the 6ixx Boss, including whether he can regain his footing in dancehall if he returns to Jamaica.
