ST ANN, Jamaica — A body in an advanced state of decomposition was discovered in bushes in the Bamboo community of St Ann on Monday and is believed to be that of 66-year-old Owen Hamilton, otherwise known as “OG,” who was reported missing nine days ago.
According to a close relative who visited the scene, the remains were too badly decomposed to allow for a positive identification. The family is now awaiting the results of a forensic examination to determine whether the body is indeed Hamilton’s.
The grim discovery was reportedly made by a farmer who stumbled upon the body while in the area on Monday morning.
Hamilton, a resident of Steer Town in St Ann, was last seen on Saturday, July 4, while attending a grave-digging exercise in Bamboo.
Following his disappearance, family members launched an appeal for information and offered a $500,000 reward for details leading to his safe return.
Police are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body.
