Man found dead at Retirement landfill in St James

St. James

ST JAMES, Jamaica — Police are investigating the discovery of a man’s body at the Retirement landfill in St James on Saturday.

Reports indicate that the body was found by workers at the disposal site among piles of garbage. The deceased was reportedly dressed in a yellow-and-black shirt.

Preliminary information suggests the man may have died sometime around 8:00 a.m., but the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

Law enforcement personnel were dispatched to the scene and have commenced investigations into the incident.

The discovery comes amid an ongoing fire affecting a section of the Retirement landfill. The blaze has been burning since last Friday, prompting response efforts from the Western Parks and Market

authorities and the Jamaica Fire Brigade.

Investigators are working to determine the identity of the deceased and the cause of death. Further details are expected as the probe continues.
