It’s always the way.

A new boss takes over and gets rid of top management and replaces them with his own people.

Don’t be fooled; favouritism is always rife and always will be.

British Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy was always loyal to Sir Kier Starmer, and they had a good working relationship. The Labour Party was not happy with its Prime Minister, said he was weak and insipid and that Andy Burnham was their salvation. Many conspired to get rid of Sir Kier Starmer, who delivered the Labour Party out of opposition for years to one of the biggest electoral victories in British political history.

But less than two years in Government, that was not enough; it counted for nothing. So they called for the “ King of the North”, Andy Burnham, to lead them, and now he is the seventh Prime Minister in the last ten years, but he does not have a mandate from the people. The Labour Party Government threw their leader overboard and now have put their trust in a new captain who says he will steer a new course.

His first act as the new Prime Minister, get rid of Sir Kier Starmer’s top lieutenants.

David Lammy was behind Sir Kier Starmer all the way and believed in his vision for Britain. First elected as Labour MP for Tottenham at the age of 27 in June 2000, he has gone on to be a leading figure in the Labour Party.

He studied law at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) Law School and Harvard Law School. He holds a Master of Laws degree (LLM) from Harvard Law School.

Lammy has served as Shadow Foreign Secretary, Shadow Secretary of State for Justice and has been Shadow Lord Chancellor.

In Government he has been Lord Chancellor, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Secretary of State for Justice and Deputy Prime Minister. He has held significant portfolios and is a skilled and experienced politician. That did not matter to Andy Burnham; he had no place for Lammy’s abilities. Loyalty counted against him.

Lammy didn’t take it personally; he knows how the world works,v and he has seen men like wheat rise and fall.

“I would have been proud to continue serving in Cabinet. But a new Prime Minister is entitled to build his own team, and I wish Andy Burnham and the new Cabinet every success,’’ wrote Lammy.
