Panama Bronze and FEMUNDO Appointments Expand Jamaica’s Influence in World Domino

Jamaica delivered another strong showing on the world domino stage at the 2026 FEMUNDO World Domino Series in Panama, underlining the team’s discipline and expanding international profile in the sport.

Competing against a field of more than 320 players from eight countries and territories — Barbados, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, United States, Panama, Colombia, and San Andrés Island — the Jamaican side finished third in the Nations Cup.

That bronze result reinforced Jamaica’s standing in global competition, with five Jamaicans also placing among the event’s leading individual performers.

The trip also marked a significant moment in federation leadership. Derick Dunn, an insurance executive, president of Covenant Domino Club, and leader of the Jamaican delegation, was appointed third vice-president of the FEMUNDO Domino Federation.

Oral Heaven, vice-president of Covenant Domino Club, a Jamaican banking executive, and brand manager for the Panama delegation, was named international coordinator in the federation, widening Jamaica’s role in global domino administration.

Dunn and Heaven are jointly advancing the Jamaica Domino Authority, an effort aimed at formally organising the sport in Jamaica through governance, structure and long-term development, with a focus on turning local domino culture into economic and educational opportunities.

“This tournament proved that Jamaica is not only competitive but consistent at the highest level,” Dunn said. “Being appointed third vice-president is an honour, but more importantly, it is a responsibility to help shape the future of domino globally. Domino is a serious business, one that can create careers, drive economic activity, and unify nations through structured competition,” he added.

Heaven also set out the wider objective: “Our performance in Panama is a signal to the world that Jamaica is ready to lead. My appointment as international coordinator is not just personal — it represents an opportunity for Jamaica to influence the global framework of the sport. Domino has the potential to impact education, sports development, and tourism, and we are committed to building systems that allow our people to benefit from that value.”
