Promising Rajae McGeachy propels KC to another ISSA Under-16 cricket title


Rajae McGeachy continued his rich vein of form by helping Kingston College (KC) retain the ISSA Urban Under-16 Cricket title, beating St Jago High by 58 runs at Chedwin Park on Thursday.
McGeachy, one of the most promising players in the country, hit a top score of 28 in KC’s total of 135 all out. KC’s next-best batter was Ajani Bond, who made 18 and Kyle Rhone with 15 runs. Dominic Hinds took 4-21 from his 10.4 overs for St Jago.
But McGeachy, who hit a masterful 224 against Wolmer’s in the semi-finals, really took control with the ball in the final, capturing 7-26, including a hat-trick and another three wickets in four balls as he destroyed the St Jago batting.
St Jago, chasing 136 for victory, were skittled out for 77 with Wayne Plummer hitting a game-high 33 runs from 56 balls with four fours and one six.
McGeachy dismissed Rajiv Bacchus for one run and followed up getting Winaldo Faulknor and Naquane Johnson for zeros at 35-6 to complete his hat-trick. he then dismissed Plummer with the score on 77-8 and in the same over with his third and fourth balls dismissed Rajani Hinds and Caja Burnett as St Jago folded for 77-10.
In the 2025 final against Norman Manley, the then 13-year-old McGeachy took an incredible 9-38 in bowling out Norman Manley for 70 runs, then smashed 35 not out as KC overhauled the total, reaching 71-6 and ending a 23-year cricket title drought.
MCGeachy, now 14 years old, was the Most Valuable Player of the 2026 competition, hitting 284 runs, which was the highest, averaging 142 with a strike rate of 87.65. McGeachy was second in the bowling department, taking 29 wickets. Wayne Plummer of St Jago was tops with 34 wickets. KC’s Alixandre Elliott took 28 wickets.
