Ricky Platinum Celebrates Caribbean Music Awards Nomination After 17-Year Grind

For over recent years, selector Ricky Platinum has built name for himself across the local music scenes in both the U.S. and the Caribbean, becoming a recognized ambassador for Jamaican music internationally.

From commanding crowds at top venues across the United States to performing on international stages alongside dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel as part of the World Boss Tour, Ricky Platinum has continued building an impressive resume while steadily elevating his profile within the entertainment industry.

Now, after more than 17 years in music, the selector, born Ricky Palmer, has earned a nomination for Best International DJ at the 2026 Caribbean Music Awards, another major milestone in his growing career.

“I feel blessed to know that my hard work is being noticed all over the world! Years of relentless work got me here,” Ricky Platinum shared while reflecting on the nomination.

The selector highlighted the global impact and dedication Caribbean DJs continue to bring to the culture. “Caribbean DJs’ drive is just different. We take our craft very seriously. From keeping the crowd energized with our selection and introducing people to new music, I think it’s fair that globally Caribbean DJs should be recognized!” he elaborated.

As his momentum continues to rise, Ricky Platinum says the remainder of 2026 will be focused heavily on expansion, touring, and new ventures within music production. “For the rest of 2026, I plan to take my event brands; Yaad Ting, Feteish Soca, Vybz Festival, Memba Dis Party, on the road! I’ll be on tour with Vybz Kartel also. The Ricky Platinum tour is an everlasting movement! Producing is on list for this year as well,” he said.

Since rising to international prominence as a DJ, many doors have continued opening for Ricky Platinum, whose consistent work ethic and passion for Caribbean music have helped position him among the culture’s respected entertainers on the global stage.
