Sunshine Girls Name 12-Player Squad for 2026 Commonwealth Games Campaign

1 min read

Jamaica has unveiled its 12-member Sunshine Girls squad for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, as the national team sets its sights on improving on its historic silver-medal finish from the last edition of the Games.

Leading the squad is captain Shamera Sterling-Humphrey, with Latanya Wilson and Shanice Beckford serving as vice-captains. Sterling-Humphrey and Wilson head into the tournament on a high after helping the Adelaide Thunderbirds capture the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball League title.

The squad also features Suncorp Super Netball League standouts Kadie-Ann Dehaney, Jodi-Ann Ward, and Romelda Aiken-George, who enjoyed a record-breaking season by becoming the first player to surpass the 10,000-goal milestone in the competition.

Rounding out the squad are Crystal Plummer, Nicole Dixon-Rochester, Abigale Sutherland, Azara Wilmot, and England-based pair Brie Grierson and Rhea Dixon.

Sasher Gaye Henry-Wright will lead the team as head coach, supported by specialist coach Rob Wright. Roxan Long has been appointed team manager, while Kyle Hendricks will serve as performance analyst.

The Sunshine Girls will be aiming to go one step further than their memorable silver-medal performance at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Jamaica reached the final unbeaten, including a 57-55 victory over Australia in the group stage, before narrowly falling 55-51 to the Australians in the gold-medal match.

Six members of that historic squad, Sterling-Humphrey, Wilson, Ward, Dehaney, Beckford, and Dixon-Rochester, return with valuable Commonwealth Games experience as Jamaica looks to challenge for its first-ever Commonwealth Games netball gold medal.
