Visit Jamaica and travel creators map romantic Ocho Rios north-coast itinerary
Travel content creators Nick and Madison, who publish as the Capturing Couple, worked with Visit Jamaica to document a multi-day north-coast itinerary built around Ocho Rios. They said they reached the island on a roughly ninety-minute flight from Miami into Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, then travelled by road along the coast to Ocho Rios, where they based themselves at Jamaica Inn.
They stayed in the property’s Winston Churchill Suite, described as a secluded suite on its own peninsula with a plunge pool and wide sea views; they noted that Marilyn Monroe was among past guests. One evening they ate at Christopher’s at Hermosa Cove, citing the food, sea outlook and calm mood. The following morning they had breakfast brought to the suite before joining Chukka for tubing on the White River Valley, then visited the Blue Hole for swimming, cliff jumps and waterfalls. Lunch was at Miss T’s in Ocho Rios, where she chose honey garlic chicken with white rice and he chose jerk chicken. They later visited the Ocean Spa for a couples’ massage, spent time on a private beach and sipped from fresh coconuts.
The pair said they have visited Jamaica five times and that this trip was their third visit this year. They framed the destination as welcoming, with warm water and varied things to do, and they recalled a starlit private dinner on the sand where, they said, “This is what Jamaica is all about,” linking the line to romance, scenery and time together. The next day they went to Dunn’s River Falls, calling the junction where the cascade meets the sea especially striking and saying crowds were light enough that the site felt almost private. With Island Routes they rafted the Martha Brae River, sampling fruit along the way, then stopped for jerk at the Ultimate Jerk Center. They toured the Green Grotto Caves limestone system, including an off-road segment through an area they referred to as the Limbo Hole, and back at the inn tried frozen cocktails named for Bob Marley, including a flaming version. They watched another sunset over Ocho Rios and ate outdoors at Teddy’s Beach Grill, praising wood-fired pizzas as among the best they have tasted.
On their last full day they toured Sun Valley Plantation, a family-run estate just outside Ocho Rios, where owner Lorna led a walk-through touching on Jamaican history and local produce; they singled out meeting her as a trip highlight. Before departure they used Club MoBay at Sangster for lounge access, food and drinks ahead of the flight home. They also described the island as feeling like a second home they were reluctant to leave.
