Yaksta and Bellwetha draw heat with divisive Farmer and Banger single

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Reggae and dancehall recording artists Yaksta and Bellwetha have put out a joint single, Farmer and Banger, that is splitting opinion across the local music circuit.

On the record, Yaksta occupies the “farmer” role and Bellwetha the “banger,” a pairing listeners say makes for an odd but gripping listen. The tune is already gaining traction among underground dancehall audiences.

Bellwetha says he welcomes the chatter. “Music is art and art imitates life so just as in life some things you do people will like and some things people won’t. As such, people will talk suh whether people talk good or bad about the topic of the song me still good because a reality we a talk about. The song has the potential to become a major hit because it is catchy, controversial, and real, ” stated Bellwetha.

Yaksta enters the release with added scrutiny after a run of social media posts in which he was “burning fire” on several topics, sending timelines into overdrive. That backdrop has sharpened talk around Farmer and Banger, with some online commenters challenging lines they read as the Rastafarian artiste backing conduct widely regarded as deviant behaviour.

Bell Bell Entertainment and Cooper Records share production on the single, which is now logging strong view counts across the main digital music platforms.
