Bomb threats at Spanish Town police station and hospital spark emergency searches

1 min readSt. Catherine

Spanish Town, St Catherine, was unsettled late Monday after two reported security scares reached police and health officials only minutes apart.

Members of the Spanish Town Police Station went on heightened alert about 11:49 p.m. on June 1, 2026, following information that an explosive device had allegedly been placed on the compound.

The report prompted an emergency operation, as police began their safety procedures and called in the necessary agencies to examine the area. Following detailed searches, no suspect item was reportedly discovered at the station.

While the police response was still under way, a second alleged bomb threat was made against the nearby Spanish Town Hospital, causing renewed alarm in the community.

Officials dealt with both reports, and investigations were opened immediately. The incidents have added to concern about several bomb scares reported across St Catherine recently.

Police say the probes into the threats continue.
