Saudi air raids hit Houthi-controlled Hodeidah, rebel outlets say

Saudi Arabia carried out attacks on Hodeidah, a Yemeni port city under Houthi control, rebel-run outlets said Friday night.

Security officials aligned with the Houthis, who hold wide stretches of Yemen, said several locations in the area were struck. Other accounts claimed a Saudi vessel was damaged in the Red Sea.

The reported raids follow a sharp rise in friction after the Houthis declared a sea blockade against Saudi Arabia and said they had struck multiple Saudi ships.

The episode adds pressure to an already volatile regional picture, with the United States in conflict with Iran and Israel continuing campaigns in Gaza and Lebanon.

Al Masirah TV, the rebels’ broadcaster, posted that “A Saudi aggression targeted Hodeida province.” Further details were expected.
