St Catherine constable missing after Spanish Town visit, no-show for shift
A police constable stationed in St Catherine is missing after he left to see his girlfriend and then skipped his weekend shift without explanation.
Officers have named the missing man as Constable Kevin Williams of the Waterford Police Station. He resides in Cumberland, Portmore.
Early accounts say Williams set out from home for Johns Road in Spanish Town to see his girlfriend and did not come back. He was due on duty at Waterford at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 18, but never appeared.
Worried family members lodged a missing-person report at the Caymanas Police Station on Sunday, July 19.
Since Saturday, attempts to reach him by cellphone have failed, with no answer on repeated calls.
One fellow officer spoke of Williams as reliable and committed. "He's humble, jovial, always ready for duty. He's basically a reserved kind of guy, dependable," the colleague said.
Authorities have begun looking for the constable and are still probing the circumstances of his disappearance.
