St James murder case against Nolies Bullock dismissed over missing alleged confession

1 min readSt. James

MONTEGO BAY, St James — Nolies Bullock walked out of the St James Parish Court free last Wednesday after the prosecution’s case was derailed by the absence of an alleged confession from the file placed before the court.

The charge arose from events in Granville, St James, on September 29, 2025. According to the prosecution’s account, Bullock and his 33-year-old son, Shimron Bullock, had a quarrel over a house key. The disagreement was said to have escalated before Shimron was fatally wounded in a machete attack.

When the matter was called on Wednesday, there was no trial and the court made no ruling on Bullock’s guilt or innocence. The case instead collapsed because of defects in the material served by the prosecution.

Defence lawyer Chumu Paris argued that the documents provided to him did not meet the legal threshold required for the matter to move forward. The court was told that Bullock’s alleged confession statement was missing from the committal bundle, removing what prosecutors needed as a central part of their case.

“There was nothing in the bundle to prove a murder was committed,” Paris said.

Because of that gap, the prosecution was unable to continue. The case was dismissed for want of prosecution, and Bullock was formally discharged.
