Dovey Magnum Lines Up Summer Dancehall Releases After Be Patient

Dovey Magnum says she still ranks among dancehall's powerful performers as she gets ready to deliver several songs over the summer. The artiste, born Simsky Harrison, has put out Be Patient, a new single produced by Nigel Angus for Palm Tree Flow Records.

The song carries the sound fans associate with her, including sharp lyrics, bold melodies and her own delivery. Dovey Magnum said more recordings are already waiting, but she plans to release them in stages, telling supporters they will have to “be patient” as each project is introduced.

Her major rise came in 2017 with Bawl Out. She has also built her name with songs including Prayer Me A Use And Win, Sex Slave and Female Shella. Almost 10 years after that first major breakthrough, she said her commitment to music has not weakened, even as dancehall has shifted around her.

Dovey Magnum said she is not troubled by current trends or by other acts, because she believes her place in the music is firm. "The game change up in many ways, but one thing still remains, bad artiste a bad artiste, and Dovey Magnum a bad artiste,” she said. “Suh I care zero about what is happening or who is happening because me sure my space secured. My love for music is just as strong as it was when I just started.”

She added that she is ready at any time because she understands what she contributes to the genre. With new material prepared and her confidence high, Dovey Magnum is positioning herself to stay visible across the summer period.
