Dovey Magnum and Cartadon team up on summer dancehall single Motion
Dancehall performers Dovey Magnum and Cartadon are preparing to light up the summer with a shared single called Motion. Production on the track comes from Boston Boys Records, a label based in the United States.
Cartadon said he believes the pairing will land with force. "The song hot like di summer, and the video a guh raise eyebrows, trust me," he said.
Magnum, whose renewed look has been turning heads online lately, delivers smooth, melodic vocals on the record. Cartadon matches her with a rougher, magnetic edge that rounds out the sound.
Mike Haley, a producer with Boston Boys Records, said the song was shaped on purpose to stand apart from what is currently ruling dancehall. "I like to think out of the box. As such, I wanted to create a record that brings back woman-and-man interaction, as opposed to the chopping and badness songs that are flooding the street at present," the producer said.
He went on: "This song has a feel-good vibe. It is catchy and it is the kind of street love story that works well in dancehall. I think the industry needs more content like this and, with that being said, I am confident that this song will dominate dancehall."
