1 min readSt. James

Dr Sandra Colly-Durand has been named a recipient of the Governor-General's Achievement Awards – Diaspora 2026, earning praise from Earl Jarrett for her work in advancing Jamaica's national development.

Jarrett, who chairs the 11th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference and serves as chief executive officer of The Jamaica National Group, publicly acknowledged Colly-Durand's contributions during the gathering.

She was one of seven distinguished awardees drawn from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and China. The presentations took place on June 15 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade stages the biennial conference in partnership with The Jamaica National Group as conference chair. Legacy partners, government ministries, departments, agencies, and diaspora stakeholders also lend support to the event.

Organisers describe the conference as Jamaica's leading forum for connecting with citizens abroad and mobilising their involvement in the country's development priorities.
