The 3-5 favourite Dream Catcher scored an impressive come from behind victory in the first classic of the local racing season, the 52nd running of the Jamaica 1000 Guineas for native bred 3 year old fillies over a mile at Caymanas Park on Saturday.

The 3 year old bay filly came from well off the pace to give jockey Tevin Foster his first 1000 Guineas winner, while trainer Jason DaCosta recorded his second 1000 Guineas victory and the exacta in the event with stable companion Taylor Made taking the runner-up spot.

Dream Catcher returned a minute, 41.2 seconds to win by 6 lengths. Dream Catcher's victory closed out a double for Foster and DaCosta on the programme.

Meanwhile, the supporting feature, the 25th running of the Grade 1 Eros Trophy saw the 1-2 favourite Legacy Isle under 2-time reigning champion jockey Raddesh Roman setting a new track record and scoring his third consecutive victory by going from gate to wire in the 7 furlong contest.

The 6 year old American-bred bay horse covered the trip in a minute, 22.3 seconds to shave a fifth of a second off the previous track record set by the great Eros. The win by Legacy Isle completed a double for roman on the card.

Racing continues on Sunday with a 9-race card featuring the season's second classic, the 52nd running of the Jamaica 2000 Guineas for native bred 3 year old colts and geldings.
