1 min read

A Saturday morning crash on the P.J. Patterson Highway has left two people dead after their vehicle struck a barrier and was consumed by fire.

The victims could not be identified, as the blaze left both bodies severely burned.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 3:45 a.m. on the section of the highway running between Toll Gate and Mandeville. A white Toyota Noah van was moving east along that route when the driver failed to hold the line through a right-hand curve.

The van ran off the roadway and collided head-on with a concrete retaining wall on the left side. Moments after impact, the vehicle ignited.

When authorities reached the scene, the charred remains of the driver and a front-seat passenger were found still inside the cabin.
