An eight-year-old Jamaican footballer named Kamara says his ambition is clear: play at the FIFA World Cup someday, a goal shaped by a family link to the national game.

Kamara told interviewers he has loved football largely because his father once represented Jamaica. He has been playing for about seven years — nearly his whole life — and still pushes through long training days because he wants to improve.

He said he lines up on either wing or in midfield, with right wing his preferred role. He largely taught himself that position. Consistency matters to him; when asked why he keeps grinding after hard sessions, he answered simply that he wants to get better.

Spain is his pick among World Cup sides. He praised their passing and the players he enjoys watching, and when asked who he tipped to lift the trophy, he named Spain again. Pressed on whether Argentina — linked in the conversation to Lionel Messi — or England, associated with Harry Kane, might trouble that path, he said he did not know and just hoped Spain would prevail.

His favourite player is France star Kylian Mbappé. He said he felt “really good” after hearing of a semi-final result discussed in the interview, and he has even tried Mbappé’s celebration. He noted Mbappé used to be his favourite and that he has since switched, though he could not say why.

Family support has grown around his passion. His mother was not a football follower before but has become one because of him. They do not routinely watch club leagues together; she mainly tuned in around the World Cup. They have followed the UEFA Champions League, and he recalled going with a friend to watch a match involving Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.

Asked how World Cup football would feel, Kamara said it would feel “really good” and “special,” because he has worked hard for it. That mix of family inspiration, early experience, and daily effort sits at the centre of a young player already mapping a path from wing play to the biggest stage in the sport.
