JSE Combined Index slips as Dolla Financial dominates Thursday trading volume
The JSE Combined Index moved lower in Thursday's session, shedding 1,320.92 points, or 0.38 per cent, to finish at 345,914.63. Trading across the measure totalled 525,153,163 units with a value of $1,089,931,034.03.
The main JSE Index gave up 1,111.28 points, equal to 0.33 per cent, and ended at 339,622.14. Turnover for that index was 9,402,570 units valued at $104,866,475.18.
The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index also weakened, falling 1,176.35 points, or 0.29 per cent, to 400,725.36. Its market activity came to 9,221,828 units worth $97,918,994.88.
Among the day's gainers, the JSE Select Index rose 21.75 points, or 0.25 per cent, to close at 8,738.17, with 1,509,387 units changing hands for $41,739,666.13. The JSE USD Equities Index advanced 0.45 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 232.48, while volume stood at 2,598,880 units valued at $847,482.88.
The JSE Cross Listed Index slipped 0.22 points, or 0.49 per cent, to 44.98, on 23,074 units worth $6,631,497.60. The Junior Market Index dropped 35.90 points, or 1.20 per cent, to 2,952.02, with trading of 515,750,593 units valued at $985,064,558.85.
The JSE Financial Index ended at 63.93 as 488,480,313 units traded for $989,479,160.15. The JSE Manufacturing & Distribution Index lost 0.86 points, or 0.74 per cent, to close at 116.07, with 9,784,196 units valued at $53,256,845.59.
Overall, 109 stocks were active on the market. Of that number, 33 advanced, 57 declined and 19 ended unchanged. Total market volume was 525,153,163 units, with value exceeding $1,089,931,034.03.
DOLLA FINANCIAL SERVICES LIMITED led overall volume with 487,675,188 units, representing 92.41 per cent of trading. KINTYRE HOLDINGS (JA) LIMITED followed with 16,620,353 units, or 3.15 per cent, while AMG PACKAGING & PAPER COMPANY LIMITED accounted for 4,902,924 units, or 0.93 per cent.
