West Indies Academy squad leaves for Sri Lanka cricket tour
A 16-player West Indies Academy squad has left the Caribbean for Sri Lanka, where it will play Sri Lanka Emerging Players from June 3 to 27 in a series spanning two formats.
The trip comes after Sri Lanka Emerging Players visited Antigua in 2025. During that series, the teams shared the two four-day matches at one win each, while the Academy took the three one-day fixtures 2-1.
There are changes to the Academy group for the Sri Lanka assignment. Akeem Auguste has moved up to the West Indies senior side, while Keagan Allen Bowden Tuckett is unavailable because of personal matters. Kevin Anderson, Shaqueere Paris and Johann Jeremiah have been added to the squad.
The tour will again feature two four-day matches and three 50-over contests. It is being presented as part of the continued push to prepare young West Indies players through overseas competition, with Sri Lankan conditions expected to test their adjustment and development.
The Academy squad will first head to Hambantota for the four-day leg, then move to Colombo for the white-ball matches. The opening four-day game is scheduled to begin on June 8.
