Dane Watson charged with murder after death of American wife Melissa Samnath

ST MARY, Jamaica — Police in St James have laid a murder charge against 31-year-old Dane Watson in connection with the death of his wife, Melissa Samnath, an American woman who was 35.
Detectives formally charged Watson on Wednesday. He had turned himself in to the authorities last week while accompanied by relatives.
Samnath, whose listed address was in New York, was taken to Cornwall Regional Hospital on April 29 with several injuries. She was later declared dead.
Investigators suspect Watson carried her to the hospital and then left. Police also believe he went out of St James and was staying in Gayle, St Mary.
Watson reportedly became worried about his own safety and reached out to family members. Those relatives then worked with the Gayle police to have him surrender.
