Eight-Year-Old Zoe Ravaz Turns Dance Roots Into a Music Career With Big Dreams

Kennedy Williams performs as Zoe Ravaz, and at eight she already carries the poise and drive that many entertainers only find much later in life. She loves the stage, is adding to a small but growing song list, and speaks openly about wanting to reach the Grammy Awards one day while she takes each step in music on her own terms.

Her path into show business began with dance, not vocals. The name Zoe Ravaz took shape during those early dance years, well before she entered a recording booth. After a stretch as a dancer, she felt the routine had run its course and looked for a fresh outlet.

"Yeah, I was a dancer before music," she said. "But I got tired of dancing and wanted to try something new."

That shift led her to songwriting and recording. She points to Two, her debut track laid down last year, as the turning point when she knew music was more than a passing interest.

She turns nine on June 18 and already talks like someone far older on stage. She recalls feeling very shy at her first live outing, but says that hesitation is behind her now.

"That's all gone," she said. "I'm a star!"

That bold outlook sets her apart from many peers still sampling hobbies. Zoe Ravaz says she knows what pulls her most as an artiste: being in front of an audience.

"I love to perform in front of people. That's the part that makes me the happiest," she said.

Her role models sit at the top of Jamaican popular music. Shenseea ranks as her top pick overall, while Vybz Kartel and Spice are among the acts she respects most and would like to work with someday.

She is still at the start of her career yet has written roughly five songs and keeps honing her skills at home and in the studio. She trains often with her family and goes to the studio each week with DHW Recording and producer DHW.

Her next release, Rich People Things, is building buzz as plans move forward for a music video, though no firm launch date has been set.

Recording matters deeply to her, but she also pictures a wider future: fame, international tours, and a Grammy performance on the stage she dreams about most.

Away from music she enjoys travel, shopping, and reading, the ordinary pleasures of childhood. Even so, she speaks about standing tall and trusting yourself, and she wants other young people to hear that same note.

"Don't be shy. Be bold and be yourself," she said.

With charm, self-assurance, and a deepening love for music, Zoe Ravaz is showing that youth does not cap talent when drive and focus are already in place.
