PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Haiti has deployed a 31-member medical mission to Venezuela to assist communities affected by powerful earthquakes that struck the northern section of the country on June 24.
The mission, announced by the Haitian government on Tuesday, includes doctors, nurses and other health professionals who will help provide emergency medical care, trauma treatment and public health support to victims.

Officials say the deployment forms part of Haiti’s contribution to the wider regional humanitarian response, as several countries continue to send aid, rescue teams and medical personnel to Venezuela.
The move comes despite Haiti facing its own deep security and humanitarian challenges, with authorities describing the mission as an act of solidarity with the Venezuelan people.
The Haitian medical team is expected to work alongside local health officials and other international responders in the hardest-hit areas.
