Jamaica wins two bronze medals at West Indies full-bore shooting championship
Jamaica left the West Indies full-bore shooting championship in Antigua and Barbuda with two bronze medals after strong showings in the individual and team events.
In the individual competition, Major John Nelson shared third place with a total of 452.32. His strongest work came on the second day, when he posted 74.8 out of a possible 75 at 500 yards—the best mark on that range for the day.
An eight-member Jamaican squad also took bronze in the West Indies short-range team match. The side finished on 1,029.42 points, behind defending champions Antigua on 1,097.57 and Guyana in second on 1,088.51.
A 10-person Jamaican contingent was part of a field of 76 shooters from several territories, including the host nation, England, Barbados, Bermuda, Grenada, Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago.
