JPS reports full restoration of power to customers impacted by all island outage
The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPSCo) is reporting full restoration to customers impacted by the all-island power outage yesterday.
The outage occurred at approximately 9:02 p.m.
In a release, JPS indicated that the last set of customers was energised at 6:30 this morning.
The JPS Incident Command System will remain active as teams continue to monitor the electricity network to ensure stability and carry out investigations into the cause of the outage.
Additionally, JPS crews will continue to address other small pockets of power outages unrelated to the all-island blackout.
President and CEO of JPS Hugh Grant had stated yesterday that significant lightning activity was recorded in the Corporate Area around the time of the disruption.
He noted that it occurred in the vicinity of several major generating stations, transmission facilities and substations.
