The Port Authority of Jamaica used the International Labour Organization's World Day for Safety and Health at Work to restate its commitment to cutting occupational accidents and work-related illness.

The authority said it placed emphasis on training crane and forklift operators across its port sites, giving staff the understanding and practical skills needed to work more safely.

It also thanked Christopher Newton, Environment Health and Safety Manager at JPS, for the time and input he gave to the training.
