The Portmore Municipal Corporation used Labour Day activities to carry out a sidewalk improvement project aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety and accessibility across sections of the municipality.

The initiative focused on upgrading public walkways and improving road safety conditions for residents, including pedestrians and persons with disabilities.

According to reports, the project included sidewalk painting, cleaning exercises, beautification activities, and general improvements to public spaces along several roadways in Portmore, St Catherine.

Officials said the Labour Day project forms part of broader efforts to create safer and more pedestrian-friendly communities within the municipality.

Representatives of the Portmore Municipal Corporation noted that improving sidewalks and public infrastructure remains important to protecting residents and encouraging safer use of road networks.

Community members and volunteers participated in the activities, which were also geared toward promoting civic pride and environmental improvement.
