Shericka Jackson, Nickisha Pryce Lead Jamaica at Shaoxing Diamond League

Shericka Jackson and Nickisha Pryce gave Jamaica two standout wins at the first Wanda Diamond League meet of the season in Shaoxing. Jackson began her outdoor campaign with victory in the women’s 200 metres, stopping the clock at 22.07 seconds, a mark level with the fourth-best time recorded worldwide this year.

Bahamian Olympic and World champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo was next across the line in 22.26 seconds, with American Anavia Battle taking third in 22.40 seconds.

Pryce, Jamaica’s national champion, closed hard in the women’s 400 metres and caught American Aaliyah Butler over the final 50 metres. She won in 49.75 seconds, the third-quickest time in the world this season, while Butler followed closely in 49.78.

Cuba’s Roxana Gómez finished third in 50.24 seconds. Jamaica’s Stacey-Ann Williams placed fourth in 50.59, just ahead of Barbados’ Sada Williams, who was fifth in 50.60 seconds.

In the women’s 100m hurdles, Bahamian Devynne Charlton ran 12.38 seconds for second place. American Masai Russell won the race in 12.25, and Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan took third in 12.41.

Jamaica’s Megan Simmonds finished fourth in 12.73 seconds, while Ackera Nugent was sixth in 12.98. In the men’s 110m hurdles, Jamaican World Championship silver medallist Orlando Bennett came fourth with a season-best 13.20 seconds.
