United States kept their strong start alive with a 2-0 win over Australia on match day nine of the 2026 World Cup, while Morocco defeated Scotland, Brazil beat Haiti 3-0, and Paraguay led Turkey 1-0 in a later fixture. On CVM's Fan Central Extra Time panel, coaches and former players said the day's results reshaped several groups and exposed tactical gaps in weaker sides.

Former Reggae Boy Tyrone Marshall and Mount Pleasant assistant coach Davion Ferguson both credited Mauricio Pochettino for building a settled United States side at home. Christian Pulisic was unavailable through injury, yet the Americans still looked dangerous. Ferguson said Folarin Balogun and Pepe operating as two central forwards stretched Australia's back five, while Antonee Robinson held width on the left, Weston McKennie and others attacked half spaces, and Sergino Dest stayed wide on the right. The first goal came from a Balogun run that forced an own goal. Marshall noted the hosts had already secured passage to the round of 32 and praised their clean sheet.

Morocco's Ismael Saibari opened the scoring inside the first minute, a finish the panel linked to the fastest goal at this tournament and the quickest in Moroccan history. Ferguson said Scotland's switch to a back five, with Kieran Tierney brought in to track Achraf Hakimi, left them short of the ball and exposed a high defensive line. Marshall said Morocco could raise the tempo across pressing and attack, and that Scott McTominay was quieter in the first half before improving after changes. Scotland remained on three points with Brazil still to play.

Brazil, under Carlo Ancelotti, dropped Igor Thiago and started Matheus Cunha, who scored twice in a 3-0 victory. Ferguson said Ancelotti's selection and Brazil's quality both mattered, and that Haiti's back-five approach backfired. Marshall said the result was acceptable but below the standard he expects from Brazil after a draw with Morocco. Rashida Murphy said Haiti became the first team eliminated from the tournament, leaving Brazil top of Group C on goal difference and Morocco second.

In Group D, Murphy said the United States lead the standings after advancing, while Australia may still fight for a place. Panelists ranked Saibari, Alex Freeman and Cunha among the day's standout performers, though Ferguson highlighted McKennie and host Kemani O'Sullivan argued for Chris Richards' defensive form. Brazil's win also moved them past Germany as the highest-scoring nation in World Cup history, a record a caller correctly identified during the programme.
