ETOC presses ahead on Jamaica education reform recommendations
The Education Transformation Oversight Committee is pressing ahead with efforts to put into practice the reforms set out by the Jamaica Education Transformation Commission. The committee’s quarterly press conference was held on July 23, 2026.
ETOC’s mandate is to oversee how the 365 measures in the JETC report are being carried out. That report was produced under the chairmanship of Professor Orlando Patterson.
The commission began its work in July 2020. It was tasked with a full review of Jamaica’s education system — its organisation, how it operates, and its processes — and with proposing a concrete programme of change.
