Three Big Bridge residents charged after Westmoreland bar stabbing
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — Authorities have brought charges against three residents of Big Bridge, two of them women, over an attack in which a man was held down and stabbed more than once in the parish.
Facing wounding with intent are Hesford Bennie, 48, also known as Rebel; Jessie Jones, 27, also known as John John; and Sofia Robinson, 50, also known as Debbie. All three live in Big Bridge, Westmoreland.
According to the Savanna-la-Mar police, the episode unfolded around 6:30 p.m. A man was on the road when Jones, who was inside a local bar, called him over. Once he went in, Bennie is alleged to have set upon him with a knife, striking him several times in the chest.
The victim is said to have tried to fight back, but Jones, Robinson and a fourth woman allegedly held him while Bennie kept up the assault. He managed to break free, then fell outside the premises. Others later helped get him to hospital, where he received treatment.
After the probe, Bennie, Jones and Robinson were taken into custody and charged. Dates for their court appearances are still being set.
