St Catherine Farmer Charged After Bus Driver Killed With Pitchfork in Old Harbour

1 min readSt. Catherine

A 36-year-old farmer from Bois Content in Old Harbour, St Catherine, has been charged with murder after police say a bus driver was fatally attacked with a pitchfork.

The accused is Peter Fable of Free Marlie, Bois Content, Old Harbour, St Catherine. The dead man has been identified as 33-year-old Mario Newell, a bus driver from Joe Brown District in Bois Content.

Police reported that at about 10 p.m. on July 1, Fable went up to Newell while armed with a pitchfork and told him he had "Someting" for him. Investigators say Newell was then stabbed several times in the chest and face, leaving him badly wounded and bleeding heavily.

The police say Fable left the scene afterward, but he was later captured during an operation. Newell was taken to May Pen Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Following investigations by the Old Harbour police, Fable was held on suspicion of murder and was formally charged on July 2 after a question-and-answer session.
