Father and son among four men fatally shot in Montego Bay security operation
A father and his son are said to be among four men who were fatally shot on Wednesday morning during an alleged confrontation with members of the security forces near the Retirement landfill in Montego Bay.
The men were named in the report as Brian Faircluff, also known as “TZ”, and Brian Fairlo Jr., also known as “TJ”. The elder man was described as a tractor operator employed at a nearby quarry, while TJ was said to have worked as a security guard at the same location.
A third man was identified only as Stalles. The name of the fourth man had not yet been confirmed in the report.
Police said the operation in the Retirement community was based on intelligence gathered during investigations into recent violence in the area. Among the incidents being examined was the killing of a man at the Retirement dump on Friday, June 5.
According to the police account, the violence is connected to an ongoing dispute involving persons operating in the scrap metal trade at the dump.
The Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM, has opened an investigation into the fatal shooting. A heavy security presence has since been placed in the community.
