1 min readHanover

Faulkland FC of St James, Axum SC of St Mary and Hanover's Lucea FC will all try to make it two wins from two today as the Jamaica Football Championships Qualifiers resume with five matches.

Three other clubs are also set to begin their campaigns in a competition that will determine the two replacements for Progressive FC and Holland PYC, who dropped out of the Championships through relegation.

Brown's Town and King Football Academy, both from St Ann, along with Clarendon's Cross United, are scheduled for their opening outings today. In all, 13 teams drawn from several Major Leagues have been placed in four groups, with each group winner moving on to the semi-finals in the battle for promotion.

Faulkland FC, who won the inaugural JFC when the league was known as Tier II, enter their Group D assignment after beating Russia FC 3-0 in their first match. They face Coopers Pen at Jarrett Park, with Shanoy Anderson, a two-goal scorer in the opener, expected to spearhead Faulkland against the Trelawny side, who were beaten 2-1 by Lucea FC.

Lucea FC travel to Llandilo Sports Complex to meet Russia FC, whose players will be looking for a better result after Wednesday's defeat.

Axum SC, a club with previous Championships experience, meet St Ann's Kings Football Academy at Westmoreland Oval in Group B. Axum opened with a 2-0 victory over Portlanders FC.

In Zone A, York FC host Brown's Town at York Sports Complex. York are coming off a 0-0 draw with Cedar Grove.

The remaining fixture sends St Elizabeth's Vineyard FC against Cross of Clarendon at the Vineyard Community Centre, where both teams will be searching for their first win of the qualifiers.
