Flippa Mafia Drops Bail Bid and Switches US Defence Lawyer
Dancehall performer Andrew Davis, better known as Flippa Mafia, has abandoned his effort to secure bail while answering to grave narcotics allegations in the United States.
The move came on Monday, alongside a shake-up in who is handling his case. Davis has cut ties with court-appointed lawyer Edward Borden and brought on Jason Javie, a Philadelphia counsel whose practice covers civil rights, appeals, and post-conviction criminal defence.
Reports say Davis was still on probation for an earlier drug conviction when authorities picked him up on suspicion of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.
He stands accused alongside Damion Jones, James McBride, and Clifford Brown of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl.
All four men have signalled they intend to pursue plea talks with federal prosecutors. The judge has set July 11 as the deadline for those negotiations to wrap up.
None of the remaining defendants have sought bail.
