Flow Prepares Jamaican Mobile Users for Phased 5G Rollout With SIM and Device Checks

2 min read

Telecommunications provider Flow is stepping up efforts to help mobile subscribers across Jamaica make the most of faster speeds on its emerging fifth-generation network.

Dwight Williams, Director of B2C Sales and Distribution at Flow, said the company is running public education and awareness activities so customers can tell whether their phones and SIM cards are ready for 5G.

"5G is being made available to all, and as a new technology in the region, we expect that some customers will need time to access its full benefits. This includes having a 5G-enabled handset paired with a compatible SIM card. The first step we advise is checking your SIM card," Williams said.

From any Flow mobile line, subscribers can dial *555# to view SIM details and see whether a card swap is required. Handset suitability may also be confirmed through official manufacturer websites or user manuals.

Flow retail locations island-wide offer complimentary full assessments of devices and SIM cards. Customers who want to avoid long waits can schedule visits at selected stores through an online booking page at https://discoverflow.co/jamaica/book-appointment.

The operator is introducing 5G in phases, with postpaid residential and business mobile accounts among the first to receive access.

"As we continue to expand access across our wider mobile subscriber base, we are using this opportunity to educate and prepare customers for the transition. We are also working to ensure that 5G devices are accessible to more customers," Williams added.

For those who need new hardware, Flow carries 5G-capable smartphones from Apple, Samsung, TCL, and ZTE at several price points. Eligible buyers can pay in interest-free instalments over 12 or 24 months. A current promotion also offers a 5G-compatible Samsung handset for $5,000 plus GCT on a 12-month plan.

"Our 5G network represents a significant investment in Jamaica's digital future, and we want every customer to benefit fully. While we do not expect this transition to happen overnight, we remain committed to supporting our customers every step of the way," Williams said.
