Duanvale moved one victory away from keeping the Trelawny FA Major League title after a 2-1 semi-final win over Jackson Town at William Knibb High on Sunday.

The defending champions made the early breakthrough in the 23rd minute, when Jaheim Brown put them in front. Jackson Town responded quickly, with Hugh Watson bringing the match level six minutes later.

Duanvale restored their advantage before half-time. Rashawn Henry scored in the 44th minute, and that strike proved decisive as Duanvale held on to secure their place in the final.

After the match, Duanvale’s camp indicated that Jackson Town’s challenge had been expected. The teams had met earlier in the competition, when Duanvale scored four goals against them, and there was an understanding that Jackson Town would return with more intensity. The side also noted that Jackson Town had been given a chance to come back into the competition, so Duanvale prepared with that in mind.

Duanvale will face Coopers Pen in the championship match. Coopers Pen booked their spot by defeating Salt Marsh 1-0 in the other semi-final, with Shavan McKenzie scoring the only goal in the 50th minute.
