Kawhi Leonard Returns to Raptors in Blockbuster NBA Trade

1 min read

Kawhi Leonard is heading back to Toronto, with the Los Angeles Clippers sending the two-time NBA Finals MVP to the franchise where he delivered the city its first championship.

In exchange, the Raptors are sending Brandon Ingram, sharpshooter Gradey Dick, two unprotected future first-round draft picks, a future pick swap, and two second-round selections to Los Angeles.

The move marks a stunning reunion between Leonard and Toronto, seven years after he led the Raptors to the 2019 NBA title. Acquired from the San Antonio Spurs, Leonard spent just one season in Toronto but etched his name in franchise history, leading the team past the Golden State Warriors in the Finals before departing in free agency for the Clippers.

Now 35 years old, Leonard’s six-year stint in Los Angeles comes to an end as he returns to Toronto with hopes of chasing another championship run and recreating the magic of his historic 2019 campaign.
