Loins were girded and signs of incompetence were nowhere to be found. Style and philanthropy took centre stage as the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) presented the red carpet premiere of
The Devil Wears Prada 2 at Carib 5 cinema on Thursday, April 30. The dress code was strictly ‘Runway Magazine Ready’, and patrons did not disappoint, avoiding anything resembling lumpy blue sweaters — echoing the sophistication and power of Miranda Priestly and the elegance of the now-experienced Andy Sachs played by Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, respectively.

Beyond the glamour, the evening was grounded in a purpose that even Priestly would deem essential. Proceeds from the event will aid the WLI’s mission of uplifting vulnerable communities through health, mentorship, early childhood education and advocacy — supporting the vital work of the Sylvia Foote Basic School and the Mary Issa Clinic through the Voluntary Organisation for the Upliftment of Children (VOUCH).
