A search is underway for a Portmore-based police constable who was reported missing after he failed to return home from visiting his girlfriend and did not report for duty over the weekend.
The missing officer has been identified as Constable Kevin Williams, who is assigned to the Waterford Police Station in Portmore and resides in Cumberland, St Catherine.
According to preliminary reports, Williams left his home to visit his girlfriend on St John’s Road in Spanish Town but never returned.
Concern grew after he failed to report for his scheduled 6:00 p.m. shift on Saturday, July 18. His mother subsequently filed a missing person report at the Caymanas Police Station on Sunday, July 19.
Efforts to contact Williams have been unsuccessful, as calls to his cellphone have gone unanswered since Saturday.
A colleague described the constable as a dependable and dedicated officer.
“He’s humble, jovial, always ready for duty. He’s basically a reserved kind of guy, dependable,” the colleague said.
Police have since launched investigations and are carrying out checks in an effort to locate Constable Williams.
Anyone with information that could assist investigators is being urged to contact the Caymanas Police Station or the nearest police station.
