Garments Academy trainee Dejanee Beckford says applied fashion programme delivered rapid results

Applied fashion trainee Dejanee Beckford says her time at Garments Academy has confirmed what she had heard about the institution — that it ranks among the strongest options for fashion education.

Beckford was selected by the academy to join its programme. She said she pursued fashion because of a long-standing passion for the craft, having cut and stitched garments since she was a child. She also spoke about enjoying the sight of people expressing themselves through what they wear.

Before enrolling, Beckford acknowledged that enthusiasm alone did not cover everything she needed to know. She said the academy has helped her advance quickly despite the relatively short period she has spent there.

"Now being at Garments Academy I've learned a lot in the very limited space of time that I've been here," she said.

Beckford described applied fashion as a worthwhile career path and said her experience to date has been smooth, without major setbacks.

She recalled hearing strong praise for Garments Academy before she arrived and said her own experience has matched that reputation.

"Well, initially the institution chose me. However, I've been hearing that it's the best institution, and coming here it has proven me right," Beckford said.

She encouraged others with an interest in fashion to consider structured training, pointing to her own progress as an example of what the field can offer committed learners.
