Jamaica’s Kadrian Goldson delivered a season highlight on Friday night in Memphis, Tennessee, winning the men’s 100 metres at the Ed Murphey Classic — a World Continental Tour Silver fixture — in a personal-best 9.89 seconds with a legal 1.9 metres-per-second breeze.
Strong following winds were a feature of the meeting, yet Goldson’s final remained within the legal limit. He left Americans Ronnie Baker and Courtney Lindsay sharing the next places, each timed at 9.93 seconds.
In the women’s 100 metres, Kemba Nelson took second in 10.97. That race carried a wind reading of 2.1 metres per second. Tamari Davis of the United States claimed victory in 10.89, while compatriot McKenzie Long secured third in 10.98.
National senior 400-metre champion Antonio Watson finished runner-up in the men’s one-lap race in 44.70. Nigeria’s Samuel Ogazi stayed in form to win in 44.51, and Grenada’s Kirani James completed the podium in 45.04.
Natoya Goule-Toppin, seldom seen on the circuit this season, was second in the women’s 800 metres in 2:00.80. Shafiqua Maloney of St Vincent took the title in 1:58.72.
Ashanti Moore placed third in the women’s 200 metres in 22.10, aided by a 2.8 metres-per-second wind. Favour Ofili of Nigeria won in 21.74, with McKenzie Long of the United States next in 22.01.
Christopher Taylor ended sixth in the men’s 200 metres in 20.02 under a 3.9 metres-per-second wind. Zimbabwe’s Denzel Simusialela won in 19.84, ahead of Canada’s Aaron Brown in 19.86.
