PATH lunches return at Greater Portmore High as Sav hospital rebuild advances
Lunches under the Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education have resumed at Greater Portmore High School in St. Catherine, days after the school briefly stopped serving them.
Terrion Thomas-Gale, acting chief education officer in the Ministry of Education, told reporters on Wednesday at a post-cabinet briefing that individual schools lack the power to suspend PATH meals. Her remarks followed this week’s announcement of a temporary halt at the Portmore institution.
Health and Wellness Minister Dr Christopher Tufton said work to repair, enlarge, and upgrade core services at Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital in Westmoreland is moving ahead. The facility took heavy damage when Hurricane Melissa struck in October.
Police are trying to locate four men wanted over a stabbing on Glen Drive in Cassava Piece, St Andrew, on Wednesday evening. They have been named as Daniel Wilson, also known as Dan Man; Jaheim Smith, alias Jaja; Tejay Brown, known as Mad Dog; and a fourth suspect identified only as Pinocchio.
