Gunman kills construction worker Davian 'Boo' Smith at Portmore dominoes bar
What began as an evening of dominoes at a Portmore bar turned deadly on Sunday night when an armed man walked in and opened fire on a young construction worker before escaping in a waiting motor vehicle.
The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Davian Smith, known as 'Boo', of March Pen Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
Reports indicate that around 8:50 p.m. on April 26, Smith was among four men playing dominoes inside the establishment when a Honda Stream pulled up outside. According to police, a man stepped out of the car, entered the bar, removed a handgun from his waistband, and began shooting.
Smith was struck several times in the upper body and fell immediately. The attacker then ran from the premises, got back into the Honda Stream, and drove off.
Smith was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators say a motive for the attack has not been determined. The Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch has commenced a probe into the killing.
