Hanover Police Search for Suspect in Attempted Sexual Assault on Elderly Lucea Woman

Officers attached to the Lucea Police Station in Hanover are searching for a man wanted over an alleged attempted sexual assault on a 76-year-old retired woman at her Haughton Court, Lucea residence last Friday.

Information reaching the authorities indicates that shortly after 12:30 p.m., the pensioner was alone inside the house when the assailant is said to have entered without permission. He reportedly took hold of her around the neck and pressed her for sex.

When she said no, he is alleged to have tightened his grip on her throat. The man is also said to have forced her onto a bed and began removing her clothing.

The woman cried out for assistance and was bitten during the struggle. She got away from the house, sought help from persons nearby, and residents responded.

Those who came to her aid tried to detain the man, whom several residents could identify. He ran from the area on foot before he could be held for the police.
