1 min readManchester

MANCHESTER, Jamaica: Manchester Crash — A 19-year-old motorcyclist lost his life after being involved in a two-vehicle collision along the Logwood Mews road in Hatfield, Manchester, on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Andrew Williams, a resident of Hatfield.

According to police reports, the crash occurred about 4:30 p.m. approximately 300 metres south of the junction of Logwood Mews and the Hatfield main road. The collision involved a green Snypa CG200 motorcycle and a Honda motor car.

Investigators say Williams was flung from the motorcycle on impact. He sustained severe injuries and was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The incident adds to the growing list of road fatalities across the island. Police statistics indicate that up to 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, 134 people had been killed in traffic crashes since the start of the year, compared to 176 during the corresponding period last year.

The figures include three men who died in a crash along the Braco main road in Trelawny on Wednesday night, as well as another man who was killed in a separate motor vehicle collision on the Llandovery main road in St Ann earlier that day.

Investigations into the Manchester crash are ongoing.
