Veteran Sunshine Girl Romelda Aiken-George is now the holder of the all-time Australian National League games record. The 37 year goal-shooter surpassed Australian great Catherine Cox over the weekend when she made her 255th appearance in the West Coast Fever's 57-63 loss at home to the New South Wales Swifts in round 10 of the Suncorp Super Netball League.
She ended with 49 goals from 51 attempts along with 2 rebounds and a deflection. Aiken-George who began playing in Australia 18 years ago, has made 7 grand final appearances, in addition to copping 4 titles and 3 league MVP awards.
Meanwhile, Sunshine Girls defender Latanya Wilson was named Player of the Match, making 9 deflections in helping former champions, the Adelaide Thunderbirds to the top of the table after their 55-51 victory at home to the Melbourne Mavericks. Fellow Sunshine Girl, Shimona Nelson had 22 goals from 23 attempts for the Mavericks.
